I do traditional not hot yoga but my hands tend to sweat a lot. I love this mat. It's heavy and my hands have never slipped. The smell is only strong when my I'm prone otherwise I don't notice it.

Really beautiful mat, everyone who sees it loves it. Grip is great, I had a Jade before which I used for Ashtanga but couldn't stand the plastic smell of it, this mat has as good grip and doesn't smell. And it is pretty soft. Super happy with this mat!

I absolutely LOVE this mat! The top is like a yoga towel that you would put on your mat to prevent slipping making the whole mat non-slip, especially in sweaty conditions. When cooler just spray with a bit of mat spray to get a good grip and you're ready to go. It absorbs any sweat so you'll need to clean and let it dry out so it doesn't get yucky. I like to give mine sunbath if the weather allows.

The only mat I am able to use without any fear of slippage from hand sweat. Always get tons of comments on it when I bring it to class. Definitely worth the purchase.
