Cork and Rubber Combo Mat—Comfortable and Slip-Resistant
I feel like typical yoga mats like the ones in yoga studios are a dime a dozen. They all seem like pretty much the same rubber, but this one has cork on one side, and rubber on the other. While the rubber is great on the studio floor, cork on the side you use is more comfortable and actually more slip resistant, especially when your hands get sweaty. Great for downward dog and plank! Even though the mat is about the same thickness as most yoga mats, I feel like the cork gives it more cushion and is easier on the knees. I also find it much more pleasant for poses where your face is on the floor. The only downside in my mind is that the mat is not reversible. Comes with an easy to use carry strap and is easy to clean with just soap and water.

Top-Notch Mat for Comfort and Durability
This is not your run-of-the-mill, $15 mat that you get in some discount store. It's got actual quality. If you look at the pictures, you'll see the tile floor. That's the whole house. Everything is tile...tile on top of a concrete slab. There is no give. The old cheapo mats do almost nothing to insulate making certain stretches very uncomfortable. The cork mat changes that. It provides much heavier duty padding that makes stretching far more pleasant. So far, it looks to be well made. no sign of easy fraying or anything like that. The patterns are crisp and clear. Despite it being heavy duty, it doesn't have an obnoxious amount of weight to it. It's easy enough to slip the carry strap on and bring it around like a gym bag.The only thing I'll note is that the cat instantly took a liking to it. He didn't claw it (yet) but it's definitely going to be stored out of reach of felines. The price tag seems high but consider what you're getting. Like anything else, if you want lasting quality, you'll have to pay for it. This mat has the makings of lasting quality.

Raw, Grounded Feel - Ideal Cork Mat for Stability and Grip
This cork mat has a more raw grounded feel than a foam mat. It definitely provides a more stable grip/traction for greater stability on the floor. It is not going to be as soft or cushioned feeling as a foam mat. It's still a significant improvement from being directly on a hard floor. I have a foam mat as well and I use them for different needs. The cork mat is better for stability so I prefer it when I'm working on more challenging poses. It's also better for intense or sweaty sessions (think hot yoga). The cork absorbs moisture so the stability is supposed to increase when when damp rather than decrease. The foam mat is good for lighter sessions. I use it for simple flow sessions and meditation. It's also like it better for head stands. The cork mat also rolls up more tightly than foam and stays rolled better because of the weight. This is mat is great but it's not necessary to use cork if you don't need the extra stability. I'd recommend going to foam route if comfort is a concern.Bonus: I love the mandala in the center of the mat! It's a nice reference point for where I'm positioning myself on the mat when changing poses. It's also great that it comes with its own straps!
